Robert Carey

Robert served in the Afghan War, 1841-2, with Sir William Nott's force,
and took part in the actions of Bolan Pass, Khojak Pass, Quetta, Ghuznee,
and Kandahar, relief of Killar Shilgie, occupation of Kabul, actions at Khoord, Kabul, Tyeen, Jugdullah, Khyber Pass, (The Punjab and First Sikh War),
he was awarded clasps for Kandahar, Ghuznee, Kabul, 1842 Afghan Medal.
Served in the Crimean War, 1854 as the Acting Quartermaster-General with Turkish Contingent, and then commanded a Brigade (Brevet of Major),
he was awarded the 4th class Medjidie and Turkish Medal.
D.A.G. in Australia, 1860;
Maori War 1860-1, awarded C.B.;
D.A.G in Waikato District, 1863;
action of Rangiriri (promoted to Colonel), New Zealand Campaign, 1864-5;
actions at Paterangi, Teawamuta, Orakau, Pukelimahina, and Mukimam;

capture of Otapawa and Waikato , and operations round Mount Egmont, medal;
